Summer all ready begun!!!
We have lots to tell you about since we were in Teheran at the end of January.
We performed Bokkesprongen six times in the Fadjr festival, the Holland Festival of Iran!
We had to make some adjustments to the performance and to the costumes, it was an amazing experience to be there. After each performance we had a talk with the audience. Even before we were homethis email came in:
i’ve just come home from your performance (fadjr festival). i don't know what to say. it was really exciting. i feel like being a little girl, running here and there, looking for you in the yard. i know nothing from the intellectual and artistic aspect of your work. all i know is that i loved it cos it was something out of this dull, serious and grown up world. and i don't want to ruin my simple feeling of joy by thinking about a "philosophy" behind your performance. thank you. i will be missing you

Warner and Andre in Iran
Warner and André were invited to hot foot it to Iran to give workshops at the street theatre festival in Marivan.
The workshops were given to the professional performers that were in the official program of the festival. Given their success, it’s possible to spot us in Iran in the near future.

The last performances of the season
We made a special performance for the opening of the renovated historic City Hall in Venlo. It was a spectacular event. The mayor himself shot-off the carbide cannon and was led by dancing Consorten through a giant wind tunnel into the City Hall. At the culminating moment of the performance, Venlo’s band Franky’s Funky Fanfare performed our composition of splattering music while fire mills, gigantic rocking cable spools with torches and pots of fire where ablaze in the square.
The following day a photo of the mayor with the carbide cannon was on the front page of the local paper. In the same weekend we performed in the Uitmarkt, the official opening of the cultural season. It was the first time that we pIayed Bokkesprongen in Amsterdam, and the public was extremely enthusiastic. The audience consisted of festival visitors, unsuspecting passers-by, local residents and a lot of others. In the Parool we scored two of the five photographs in a reportage concerning the Uitmarkt.

At the opening of the new Cool theatre in Heerhugowaard, Warner & Consorten were invited to played Clockwork at the busiest location and peak hour. And that meant yet another performance location in our own province -Noord-Holland - this year. The citizens of Heerhugowaard were warm, open and friendly. The Consorten played of their most enjoyable versions of Clockwork ever.
We gave a private performance to the students of Edith Stein College in Hengelo as the opening of their orientation week. We started with infiltrations in the canteen and after a couple minutes the students, who were at first confused, became very enthusiastic. It was good `warming-up' for the orientation week and an introduction to the workshop given by Warner, André and Ilse.
On Friday 19 September we played Bokkesprongen at the Dublin Culture Night. It was our last show of the summer and the third time that Warner & Consorten were in Dublin and again with large success. The Consorten, in their own special manner, deliriously deranged the busiest shopping street of the city interfering with the garbage collection and the flower salesmen. The Dubliners were amazed and in some cases they could not hold themselves back from participating!

Subsidy 2009-2012
Our foundation Stichting Prima Materia, has been supported by the Netherlands Ministery of Education, Science and Culture for the last eight years (ie: two cycles of four years each). The Netherlands Foundation for Performing Art will not be supporting us in the next cycle. The primary reason for the NFPK is that they consider that Warner & Consorten haven’t developed new enough work within the location theatre discipline. We think very much to the contrary, but have placed bad news behind us, we aim with full energy and lots of courage at a future full streets and location theatre.
Everyone = Dogtroep
You can see Warner in the splendid documentary`Everyone = Dogtroep'. A film made and released to coincide with the very last performance of the theatre group Dogtroep.
Warner established Dogtroep in 1975 and led it the first 15 years. Now, 33 years later and a number of artistic directors further, the location theatre company is coming to an end. All the Consorten saw the film and found it very inspiring. Therefore a must-see!
The Hand that Makes Mistakes in the Muiderpoorttheater
On 11, 12 and 13 September we performed ‘The Hand that Makes Mistakes’ in the Muiderpoorttheater in Amsterdam.
In this performance we research improvisation structures for object and choreographic theater. Every evening there are clear starting points: clear beginnings, rules for playing and secret missions, individual orders and plans for which the other performers have no idea.
With these basic ground rules various aspects receive special attention: Sound, dance, sculptural installation and voice. Three evenings after each other, every evening a unique and new performance.
The shows in the Muiderpoorttheater were a success, we were warmly welcomed at the theater and by the audience. We hope to play ‘The Hand that Makes Mistakes’ again next season.
